Preparing for the Portfolio Review
Basics for the once-a-year portfolio review
The academic year begins September 1 and runs through August 31.
For classes that are not finished by the time August 31 arrives, you may wait and report the class in the year that it is finished.
All portfolio reviews should be completed by October 31. A $25 late fee will be charged for portfolio submitted after that date.
- Provide a home school transcript that lists courses, credits and grades
Print off the form from this website.
- Provide documentation:
- For text courses, provide tests and samples of work completed
- For self-designed courses, provide course-descriptions and hours logged
- Print off the course description form from this website
- Provide abundant proof that the student did the work or participated in classes, teams, training sessions or studies.
- If someone else supervised the student (coach, piano teacher etc) have them fill out the “Grading Tool for Self-Designed Courses” Print off from this website.
- Payments must be complete before the portfolio review can be held.
Mailing the portfolio:
- Use UPS services.
- Purchase two mailing labels, one to send to us, and one for us to use when sending the work back to you.

- Make an appointment by calling our office 509 248 6388 or email athome@homeeducationdesigns.org
Allow a minimum of one hour for the meeting.
- Bring books that were used, or the copied table of contents
- Have payments complete by the time of the portfolio review.
- Provide address if the transcript should be sent to other institutions.
